Storm Team Monday morning forecast (01/09/2017)

MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- It is VERY cold to start this new work week, but a general warm-up is anticipated as we move toward Friday. High pressure is helping to steer winds from the north, supporting another freezing start for many of the region today.

High pressure is moving east, away from our region. This will eventually support a change toward warmer conditions for the majority of this work week as winds turn from the southeast.

To start, Monday afternoon highs will still be chilly, but NOT AS COLD as Saturday and Sunday, with numbers in the 50s across the board. Monday night into Tuesday morning, a freeze is not likely, though 30s are still very possible, so keep those jackets handy.

Tuesday afternoon, highs will jump to the mid and upper 60s, with lows in the 40s. At that point, we will already be above average, but even more warmth is expected to move in beyond that.

Wednesday through Sunday, highs will jump in the mid to upper 70s with stray showers possible from Friday through Sunday (<20% coverage). Lows through this period will stay in the 50s. After this week, a more significant rain chance appears possible, but forecasts so far out can change day by day. So make sure you check back daily for the latest information.
