TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Milder conditions returning for mid December. Temps today start off chilly below freezing once again.
In fact this is the fifth consecutive morning we've had temps fall below freezing officially at Tallahassee Airport. The last time we went five days straight below freezing was back in January 2014, so it's not an occurrence that happens all too often. It's all due to a dominant high pressure system that has influenced our weather pattern this past week. Highs today creep back to near 70° as winds begin to turn off the Gulf of Mexico ushering in a little bit more moisture. We'll keep that flow up heading into the overnight hours, so don't expect temps near freezing tomorrow morning. In fact, they'll be much milder in the mid 40s. Highs will be in the mid 70s as our next frontal system dives into our area bringing some rain chances especially for the Big Bend and South Georgia. The Suwannee River Valley may only squeeze out one or two showers overall. Temps beyond Tuesday moderate slightly, with lows near 40° and highs in the mid to upper 60s through the rest of the work week. Another front advances into the Deep South this weekend allowing for some rain chances and highs to warm back into the low 70s.
