MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

A large upper high over the Plains is keeping the local region on the sidelines of searing heat that's forecast for a broad part of the country.  That's not to say it won't be hot here, but our typical heat spell will be countered by occasional bouts of rain and storm activity.  An overall east or northeast wind regime will focus most of the scattered storms each afternoon toward the coast and the western side of the region, generally near the Apalachicola/Chattahoochee River counties.  Outside of these spotty occurrences, a sun-and-cloud mix is expected by midday each day, and eventual highs can reach the mid 90s.  Morning lows will fall into the mid 70s.  The upper high won't have a direct impact over the region, but it will alter the movement of any afternoon storms and may keep some inland and eastern areas a bit drier than usual.
