MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

Temperatures remain abnormally hot late today without the benefit of the typically late-afternoon shower cycle.  Oddly enough, the northerly flow helping to create the extra heat may also bring some of those rainy and stormy areas our way, but not until later tonight.  Late-night showers and storms may be locally strong, but the chances are isolated and shouldn’t last much later than midnight to 1:00 a.m.  Lows overnight will fall to the low to mid 70s with scattered clouds.  The heat wave stretches into the beginning of July Tuesday with continued northerly winds creating a limit on afternoon storm formation and pushing highs to 94° to 100° again across the area.  The north winds will be promoted by the developing tropical low off the Florida east coast; all signs point to the system gaining further strength, reaching tropical depression status, then moving north to northeast along the eastern seaboard this week.  Side effects locally will be continued hot temperatures, and perhaps a few more showers and storms triggered by midweek.
