MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- No more fog and rain, at least for now. What we have instead is cooler air as high pressure dominates the local area today. Winds from the north have helped cool the area noticeably, with morning lows in the lower 40s in many spots. Expect afternoon highs today to struggle to reach 60 degrees, even with abundant sunshine.
Friday night into Saturday morning, lows will close in on the freezing mark, as winds calm, allowing the air to cool even more so than this morning. But a quick warm-up will occur Saturday afternoon. Expect highs then to be in the lower to mid 60s with developing clouds as winds turn from the south. Rain chances will grow as soon as the New Year's Ball drops, too.
Sunday, a large frontal system is expected to pull in plenty of moisture from the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. The added moisture will keep us warmer (highs in the 70s, lows in the 60s) and the rain coverage will grow in response (50% coverage on Sunday). Added instability and energy may make it more stormy by early next week.
