We’re still warm and will be for the long haul. As expected our overnight lows are on par with our average highs, in the low 60s. Actual highs for the next 5-6 days will push near 80° as a ridge of high pressure strengthens itself over the area. For those scoring at home, records this time of year are around 81° or 82°; while these temperatures will be possible on an isolated basis, most will stay at or just shy of 80° through Tuesday. While the January heat wave continues, it’ll also be on the muggy side, not summer time oppressive humidity but with dew points in the low and mid 60s the air will tend to make you sweat a little bit more. A game changer is still evident in our computer models by Wednesday and Thursday of next week. It’s a cold front that will try to push a large chunk of this humid/springy air to the east, replacing it with a more winter-like air mass. There’s still plenty of time to fine tune those details, for now enjoy the heat wave if you can!
