Happy first day of summer! Enjoy all the sunlight today, but be aware of the possibility of showers and storms this afternoon.
The morning started out warm and muggy, with temperatures throughout north Florida and southern Georgia lingering in the lower to mid 70s. Once the sun rises, temperatures will warm up into the lower 90s this afternoon. There is a 60% chance of seeing some scattered showers and thunderstorms. The storms will be fueled by the interaction of the sea breeze and the stalled out frontal system positioned over the Florida-Georgia border line. The stationary front will interact with the sea breeze to contribute to shower and thunderstorm development this afternoon and into the evening. Rain chances will remain at 30-40% for the rest of the next seven days. Increased cloud cover this week will moderate afternoon highs in the lower 90s, and overnight lows will remain in the lower 70s. You may want to keep an umbrella around if you have any outdoor plans this weekend, but the rain occurring should not be a washout.
