Storm Team Friday morning forecast (08/02/2013)

and last updated

The unsettled air that brought afternoon showers on Thursday has since shifted eastward. Drier air overhead will lead to lower rain chances and less cloud cover. Mostly sunny skies will lead to afternoon temperatures in the mid 90s from North Florida into South Georgia. Drier air will keep rain chances at a low 30% chance, as winds from the southwest push some moisture from the Gulf of Mexico onshore. The rain will not lead to an all-afternoon washout, but the scattered showers and storms could be accompanied by some locally heavy downpours. The rain will not last long and most rain activity will fizzle out after sunset. The weekend will be in a dry pattern as well, with afternoon temperatures in the mid 90s and rain chances around 30%. By Monday, the unsettled weather returns and rain chances will increase to the 40% to 50% range and that rain will occur during each afternoon. Be sure to stay hydrated this weekend as some humidity will make temperatures feel like they are in the upper 90s.
