Storm Team Friday morning forecast (2/15/2013)

and last updated

Yesterday was cold and cloudy; today looks to be sunny and warmer. Clear skies and high pressure will bring more than a ten degree temperature jump for highs. Frosty windshields and foggy roads hanging around this morning; however, visibilities will open up as soon as the sun rises at 7:17am. Winds remain calm throughout the day with highs reaching into the mid to upper 60s. Fans of the warmth and sunshine should enjoy today because a front passing through Saturday morning will drag in cold, arctic air from the North. Most of the week, our computer guidance was pointing to a dry frontal passage but they’ve changed their minds. Current data has introduced a 30% chance for precipitation, most, if not all of it will be rain. Notice I say “most”, if the cold air and available moisture line up, we could be looking at a short lived chance at wintry precipitation in Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia. The chance, however small, would come in the afternoon while we have a strong north wind supplying the cold air. Tallahassee you’re not included, the most you see is an afternoon shower or three. Weekend highs won’t get out of the 50s with a chance at a hard freeze Saturday and Sunday night. The big time cold will be short lived; we’re back in the 60s and 70s Monday and Tuesday. Our next chance for rain comes with another front Tuesday and Wednesday.
