Storm Team Friday evening forecast (08/22/2014)

MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

Extreme heat and oppressive feels-like readings will stay in the forecast for the first half of the weekend.  The broad high-pressure system over the central Gulf Coast is providing the region with north and northwesterly winds, pinning the cooling seabreeze right at the coast and keeping the bulk of late-day thunderstorms near the immediate Big Bend.  A few isolated storms are forming in middle Georgia and may move south toward our local south Georgia counties in the early evening.  An isolated stronger storm is possible.  Overnight, clouds will break but the warmth won’t; lows will only reach the upper to mid 70s.  With extra sunshine tomorrow, temps will soar in the morning, and once more reach near or around 100° during the middle to late afternoon hours.  AN isolated thunderstorm is possible, with a limited chance for storms to be severe.  Sunday will also be quite hot, but as the high begins to fade a bit, a weakness along the east coast of the U.S. will prompt additional showers and storms to form and likely spread unsettled weather across the area by later Sunday.  The tropical disturbance near Puerto Rico will likely remain in the Atlantic through the weekend, a safe distance off the Florida east coast.
