MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

Leftover clouds are in a departing mode with the surging cold high-pressure system in the Mississippi River valley, poised to create a cold and clear weekend for the local area.  We could easily experience the first frost or light freeze of the season, with the first widespread Freeze Warning going into effect early Saturday for locations away from the coast.  We'll still have some lighter winds, which will prevent the coldest readings from happening, but still a chance to reach the low 30s outside of urban cores.  A few hours of near-freezing conditions are possible before the sunshine fights against the chilly air mass to boost highs toward 60°.  Sunday will feature even less wind in the morning which may promote frost, then an east flow pushes afternoon temps higher into the 60s.  Next week appears unsettled and wet, with high rain chances and coverage likely in the days leading toward Christmas.  A few thunderstorms are possible as well with above-average temperatures.
