MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The cooler and drier air coming from the backside of a nearby low pressure system has allowed even more cooling than initially expected. Daytime highs struggled to reach 80 degrees across the region and were closer to the lower and mid 70s in South Georgia. The low responsible for pulling in these cooler conditions will weaken but still remain nearby to the north. The north wind will translate more from the east, which will promote warming, and rainfall as winds from the Atlantic keep the moisture content in play.
Overnight lows into Saturday morning will likely fall into the mid 60s in North Florida with even cooler temperatures in South Georgia (lower 60s). Saturday afternoon highs will likely reach the mid to upper 80s with more sun and with the warmer and humid winds from the east, that can promote isolated showers and storms (30% coverage).
Into Sunday morning, morning lows will range in the mid to upper 60s with some areas seeing temperatures near 70 degrees. In the afternoon, rain coverage rise to 40% and daytime highs will range in the mid 80s with partly cloudy skies. As we advance into Sunday evening and the beginning of the next work week, the rain coverage will jump further to near 60% as a tropical wave moves toward out region, greatly increasing cloud cover.
