MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

Upper-level clouds have reduced the amounts of sunshine near the coast, but plenty of brightness have emerged inland as high pressure moves swiftly over the region from the west.  Its timing and presence will trigger colder temperatures tonight, but the amount of chill may be offset by patchy clouds, which will just thicken and increase through the daytime hours Saturday.  Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 30s, with isolated brief light freezes possible in the Suwannee Valley.  The transition to a cloudy sky will lessen the warming trend, so highs may break 60° but not go much higher in the afternoon.  Shower chances will likely wait until after midnight on New Year's morning, except in some western sections near and west of the Apalachicola/Chattahoochee rivers.  More areas will share in shower and rain action Sunday afternoon, excluding most of the southeastern Big Bend, with milder temperatures.  Rain and thunder chances will stretch into Monday and parts of Tuesday with readings staying above average once again.
