MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
A slight increase in the strength of a high-pressure system over the Florida peninsula and the eastern Gulf will promote hot afternoons with limited thunderstorm chances for the entire weekend. The effects of the ridge won't stretch much beyond Monday, as a cold front makes some southward progress into the Deep South, spreading high rain development potential into interior sections early next week and breaking the temporary hot spell. For tonight, isolated thunder from the seabreeze or daytime heating will fade by sunset, and lows will fall into the mid 70s. Highs Saturday range from around 90° at the beach to the mid 90s near the state line. Moisture will create feels-like heat index values around 100° to 105°, but afternoon rain and thunder should only impact about 20% of the region. Sunday will be similar, with perhaps a few more thunderstorms possible near the Chattahoochee River area.
Tropically speaking, tropical storm Fiona will remain weak in open Atlantic waters, while a new series of disturbances have an increased chance to encounter future strengthening.
