MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- More sunlight is in store for Saturday after a very quick-moving low pressure system moved through the area Friday morning. Temperatures will also be warmer, too, but this will be temporary as another cool blast is coming in fast.
Saturday will be the quiet period in between two frontal systems. The first system pushed through Friday, while the second will organize across Texas and the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend and rapidly push toward our region Sunday morning (similar to the first front, the rain is expected to be an early event). Overnight lows into Saturday morning will range in the upper 40s to mid 50s with warmest values along the Gulf coast. Daytime highs will be enhanced with more sunshine and warm winds from the west, with values ranging from the upper 60s in Georgia, and lower 70s in Florida. Rain coverage will jump sharply overnight into Sunday as the next disturbance rolls in from the west. Overall coverage Sunday morning will be at around 60%, with North Florida likely getting in on more rainfall than South Georgia. Strong thunderstorms aren't too much of a threat as the winds will likely be coming in from the north, cooling the area off somewhat, so a cool and dreary rain is likely.
The new work week will start off cold yet again with MLK Jr. Day seeing highs struggle to reach 60 degrees and lows near freezing.
