The tropics are looking a little quieter today as the system, Erin, has been downgraded to the point that is really just a small low pressure system in the the middle of the vast Atlantic Ocean. With very little fuel available to strengthen with, Erin has been weakening to practically the point of no return. On the flip side, a new tropical wave has just come off the coast of Africa and looks to strengthen in the coming days. However, with a lot of dry air in its path the likelihood is slim. In any case, the National Hurricane Center has given this system a 10% chance of development in the short term outlook. Other than that the tropics look fairly clear. If anything should develop though you can always count on Storm Team 27 to bring you the latest updates.
