TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- At this time, there is only one area of interest in the tropics. Subtropical Storm Oscar formed Friday night and is forecast to remain away from land.

Subtropical Storm Oscar is about 925 miles east southeast of Bermuda with sustained winds of 60 mph. The storm is currently moving to the west at 17 mph., but is expected to turn to the northeast at the beginning of the work week.

Oscar is forecast to become a tropical storm tonight, with the potential to strengthen into a hurricane next week. As previously mentioned, this storm does not appear to be a threat to land.

At this time, there are no other areas of interest in the Atlantic Basin.
