TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Hurricane Ophelia continues to move northeastward very quickly. A little closer to home, near the Leeward Islands is a new tropical disturbance.

Hurricane Ophelia is a category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 mph. This storm is about 235 miles southeast of the Azores and is moving northeastward at 28 mph. In the next day, Ophelia is expected to increase in speed.

As it continues racing to the Northeast, it is Hurricane Ophelia to become a post tropical system by Monday, though winds will still remain very strong. Those in Ireland the the United Kingdom may see very heavy rain and strong winds as this nears the area by Tuesday.

As previously mentioned, there is a tropical disturbance to the east of the northern Leeward Islands. this area of interest is a broad low pressure with associated shower activity surrounding it. this low pressure is expected to move in a north to northwestward direction in the coming days where environmental conditions will be more favorable for development. Because of this, this disturbance has been give a 40% chance of development in the next five days.
