TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Aside from the disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico, the tropics remain quiet.
An area of shower and thunderstorm activity is sitting just to the north of the Yucatan Peninsula. This disturbance lacks a defined circulation at the surface, but there are very strong winds in the associated with it. Environmental conditions do not appear to support significant development, so the National Hurricane Center has given this disturbance a 20% chance of developing in the next five days. Despite the low formation chance, heavy rain is still expected for the Texas and southwest Louisiana coasts on Sunday.
