MIDWAY, Fl (WTXL) -- Near the Big Bend, the Tropics are beginning to calm, however there are a couple of areas we're keeping an eye on as we head into the later half of the next work week.
Tropical Depression Julia is continuing to weaken away from land with much of the heavier rain staying well to the east of the storm.
Next is Tropical Storm Karl. Winds are currently sustained at 45 mph and it is moving west at 13 mph. As we near Wednesday and Thursday, there is a chance that Karl may reach hurricane status. So far, the forecast track has this storm tracking to the northeast of Puerto Rico and east of the Bahamas. This will continue to be monitored as it nears the U.S.
Lastly, there is a disturbance located between the coast of Africa and the Cape Verde Islands. This has a 70% chance to develop into a depression in the next five days.
