The threat for anything tropical to develop over the extended weekend remains very low. There are two areas in the Atlantic ocean that the National Hurricane Center is watching but both have only been given a slight chance for development.
The first area is a broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave off the coast of Africa. The environment it is moving into is moderately favorable for intensification but only for a short period of time. This system has been given a 30% chance for development over the next 48 hours.
The second area of low pressure is located 400 miles E. of the Lesser Antilles. This system will likely bring some showers and storms to areas of the Lesser Antilles over the next day or so but has only been given a 10% chance of development over the next 48 hours.
