TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for most of the Big Bend due to favorable weather conditions for rapidly spreading fires.
NWS issued the red flag warning for all counties in the Big Bend except for Madison, Lafayette and Dixie counties from 12 p.m. EDT to 7 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 6.
Meteorologists issue red flag warnings when weather conditions are favorable for rapid fire growth. The warning means that if any fires develop, weather conditions are favorable to allow them to quickly spread.
