APALACHICOLA (WTXL) - You can now access real time monitoring platforms in the Apalachicola Bay. Four new stations are in place to determine water quality, temperature and salt content. The new stations will collect water level and weather data every 15 minutes.
The stations are located within east bay, the Little St. Marks Distributary, Dry Bar and Pilot's Cove. Officials say the new data will benefit commercial harvesters and recreational fisherman. It also benefits the Storm Team Weather center which will be able to pass along more accurate water conditions to viewers with beach and boating interests.
