LEON CO. (WTXL) - If you seem some smoke near the Apalachicola National Forest today, don't worry!
The US Forest Service conducted a prescribed burn in part of the forest today. The 420 acre burn took place off of highway 379 and forest road 133 near Orange Rd. Officials said the prescribed burn will improve the wildlife habitat, eliminate vegetation build up, and reduce the threat of wild fires.
This is the second prescribed burn in the Apalachicola National Forest this week.
