Periods of sleet are likely to continue through the remainder of the afternoon and evening with slight accumulations possible on top of what has already been received in the region. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, may become more slippery than usual. Temperatures this evening will hold steady and then decline into the 20s overnight. Shallow spots of moisture on roadways may freeze or refreeze because of the persistence of sub-freezing temperatures, even though the bulk of the precipitation coverage will be reduced to eastern sections. Frozen precipitation chances will also be lowered during the course of the Thursday morning time frame. Clearing will occur from west to east Thursday morning through afternoon. Temperatures will begin to warm through the 40s and reaching highs near 50°. We’ll escape the Arctic plunge with reading soaring above average by Friday with a mix of sun and clouds.
