High pressure remains the dominant local weather features, giving us a lot of clear sky and abundant sunlight. Today’s warmth will quickly radiate into outer space as winds will relax and clouds stay absent, leading to quick cooling after sunset. Overnight, lows will bottom out in the low and middle 30s … cold enough for a little patchy frost and perhaps a brief freeze in the colder pockets of the interior and the Suwannee River valley. A swiftly moving upper-level wave over the Carolinas will continue to keep the cold air flow open, causing Thursday’s highs to only reach the low and mid 60s. Another cold start is expected Friday, but, as west winds begin that afternoon, highs will soar to near and above average for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
