The upper-level corridor of winds and moisture remains parked on top of the Gulf region, keeping cloudiness abundant and temperatures fairly cool and stable. For the night ahead, we won’t rule out a brief light sprinkle, but it’s unlikely we’ll endure heavy rain leading into the midnight hour and the New Year. Evening temperatures will slowly fall toward the 50° mark, with overnight lows in the mid and upper 40s. For the first day of 2014, we’ll begin to moisten the region and a wave of low-pressure energy will trigger scattered showers by afternoon, leading to periodic heavy rain by late-night through Thursday morning. Highs tomorrow will remain cool near 60°. Thursday’s cold front will start a partial clearing trend for the end of the week, as temperatures remain slightly below average for most of the weekend.
