A strong, persistent combination of northwesterly winds and potent northern high pressure have kept temperatures more than 15 degrees below average today, and that same trend will stretch into the overnight hours ahead. A few scattered clouds have been noticed in south Georgia, but later tonight, those clouds are likely to dissipate and a lighter wind will continue to influence temperatures. A light freeze is quite possible in many interior and inland areas away from urban centers and bodies of water tonight, as minimum temps reach the upper 20s and lower 30s for a few hours around sunrise. The slow temperature rebound gets underway tomorrow with another day of full sunshine and highs that should be able to reach the lower 60s. A couple more chilly mornings are anticipated before we experience seasonable temperatures again around the weekend time frame. Sunshine will be predominant in the afternoons. There are signs of additional moisture and clouds by Easter Sunday with higher rain chances by Monday and next Tuesday.
A freeze warning is in effect for many inland counties early Wednesday morning. Tender vegetation, pets, and people should be protected from the colder conditions overnight.
