Areas of heavy rain and frequent lightning are impacting south Georgia counties through early evening, the leftovers of a broader bunch of storms originating in the northern Deep South. Forecast indications show another such cluster of storms developing this evening across interior south Georgia and Alabama, moving south through early tomorrow morning, producing chances for more heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. A slight severe thunderstorm chance exists with this late-night system. Lows will fall into the lower 70s with cloudiness and periods of rain, some heavy, with highest chances in north and western counties. Highs tomorrow go back into the low and mid 90s before a large upper-level low pressure system lingers across the region for the weekend, tapping into vast tropical moisture and producing overcast skies and widespread rain activity.
