Persistent cloud cover will stick around for about another 24 to 36 hours, as a stalled front across north-central Florida and upper-level winds keep most of the Gulf region underneath a blanket of overcast and producing passing light showers locally. Major rain accumulations aren’t expected tonight. Shower coverage will likely increase tomorrow in advance of the next cold front, which has ample support to sweep completely through the region by Wednesday. The front will force much cooler northern air into the region on a breezy northwest wind, creating the season’s first dive into the 40s for morning lows later this week. In the meantime, we’ll stay mild tonight with cloudiness and lows in the mid and upper 60s with a few light showers. A couple of downpours are possible, mainly south, tomorrow with highs primarily in the 70s with generally limited sunshine. As the dry, cool air mass arrive by midweek, the sky will gradually clear.
