Though the sunshine was abundant this afternoon, areas of clouds lurk to the south and southwest of the area. A quick-moving disturbance will lift northeastward from the Gulf and generate increasing cloudiness over the landmass later tonight, with a wave of showers to come along with the clouds. The rapid movement of the system should allow the rain chances to diminish by midday Saturday with a clearing trend for most areas in the afternoon. Lows tonight will dip into the middle 40s, then temps rebound back to around 60° with more afternoon sunshine. Rain totals should be half an inch or less, with little chance for thunder. Sunday will feature a mainly clear sky with seasonably cool temperatures, warming toward 70° by afternoon. A more-potent storm system may create heavy rain for the region around the middle of next week.
