TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Did you think the first month of 2014 seemed quite chilly? Statistics tend to back up that belief.
Initial calculations show the average temperature for the month of January at Tallahassee Regional Airport was about 48.2°, which is roughly three degrees below the normal of 51.3°.
While there were 15 mornings features a low temperature at or below freezing, there were only three days with highs above 70°, those days being Jan. 10, 11, and the warmest day, Jan. 27, when the high peaked at 75°.
The coldest day of the month was Jan. 7. The high of 35° and the minimum temperature that day of 22° produced an average temp of 29°.
The National Weather Service will release a full report on weather features and conditions in a summary report sometime in early February.
