TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - We're still monitoring a tropical wave in the southeastern portions of the Gulf of Mexico.  Currently, conditions are fairly unfavorable for development, but about 5 days out it has a moderate chance of forming into a tropical system.  As it potentially develops, it will drift to the northeast into the open Gulf.  It looks to stay to the south of the Big Bend, but south Florida could see the impacts of this system if it does develop. Elsewhere, in the open Atlantic a low pressure system spins off the African coastline. Waters are rather cool as we approach the end of the hurricane season, but we could see this turn into a named storm as we head into the weekend. Currently, it has a 30% chance of formation.
