TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Tropical depression eleven has sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving slowly west at 2 mph. Due to strong wind shear it is not expected to last long. By the time it could reach the eastern seaboard it will likely be a trough with no tropical status.

An area of low pressure in the central Gulf of Mexico has a 30% chance of cyclonic formation. Although it is producing numerous thunderstorms the circulation has become less defined. It is expected to keep pushing towards the north over the next few days. An Air Force Reserve plane is being sent to investigate the low this afternoon. Even if this doesn't turn into a tropical system heavy rains are likely over the southeastern U.S.
