TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Tropical depression Kate has sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving northwest at 15 mph. It is not expected to hit the United States, just scoot along the coast and remain a fish storm. Most computer models agree that Kate will turn towards the northeast by Tuesday.
An Air Force Reserve aircraft is scheduled to investigate the tropical depression later this morning and should provide a more certain assessment of how intense Kate is. Some strengthening is expected over the next few days due to warm waters and low wind shear.
