TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Hurricane Joaquin is still pushing towards the east-northeast at 14 mph. The weakening that Joaquin has been experiencing has temporarily stopped. Joaquin is still expected to be a category one with wind speeds of 85 mph. Over the next few days Joaquin will move into an area of high wind shear and cooler waters. It will slowly weaken as it continues to move through the northern Atlantic Ocean.
An area of low pressure 1000 miles away from the Lesser Antilles has a 20% chance of cyclonic formation. Upper level winds are expected to be unfavorable by midweek for formation.
