MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Fiona, a tropical depression, continues to weaken as it spins over the open Atlantic. Unfavorable wind shear has done its work on the system. It will likely transition into a remnant low by midweek.

In addition to Fiona, the two disturbances to the southeast have fared differently so far. The western disturbance that is closer to the Lesser Antilles originally looked likely to develop by this point in time, but now its 5-day development chance is at 40%. Interests along the east coast should still monitor this system as it pushes into the Caribbean.

Beyond that disturbance, another tropical wave has a 90% chance of developing into a depression by Wednesday.
