MIDWAY, FL (WTXL) -- There are limited areas we are currently watching for tropical development.
An area in the Caribbean has the potential for tropical development mid-week. It is expected to form near the Yucatan Peninsula and drift north. It has a 20% chance to gain tropical characteristics over the next 5 days.
If the system forms, it's movement will determine our weather for the weekend. It could increase our rain chances and humidity for the weekend if it lifts north along the eastern Gulf of Mexico. However, we will be in a drier trend if the system tracks more towards south Florida. We will continue to closely monitor this area for development.
