MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- As Nate diminished over the Northeast United States Monday, it leave the newly formed Tropical Storm Ophelia as the only existing organized tropical system in the Atlantic basin. Ophelia is located in the open eastern Atlantic, set to move east generally toward the European continent. This means the storm will not have a direct impact anywhere in the U.S.
An upper disturbance north of the Lesser Antilles will move to the west, but there aren't many indications that it will become a tropical low. It is projected to move west toward the Florida peninsula by later this week and may provide additional moisture sources for that region by then.
