Our regional rain event will be driven by a source of tropical moisture, propelled into the Big Bend and southern Georgia by a broad low-pressure system aloft over the Tennesee Valley, a secondary upper low in the central Gulf, and a long flow of southerly winds into the region. The Gulf disturbance is not expected to become a bonafide tropical system, but periods of heavy rain are anticipated around midweek for north Florida and south Georgia.
A stretch of disturbed weather approaching the southern extent of the Lesser Antilles shows no immediate signs of development. There are also no other areas of near-term concern in the tropical Atlantic basin.
