MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- There are two areas of interest in the Atlantic Ocean, including the newest Tropical Storm of the Hurricane Season. The storm is named Ian and it is churning over the open Atlantic, far away from any landmass. It is expected to continue to push northwest into the open waters of the ocean, before transitioning into a non-tropical storm system near Europe.
In addition, there is a weak tropical disturbance moving closer toward Florida. It has a 10% chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next five days. This area is important for the local forecast as rain coverage is expected to be on the high side for the next couple of afternoons.
