TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - It was officially the 4th hottest summer on record in the Big Bend and south Georgia. Record books for Tallahassee go back to 1892.

Though the autumnal equinox doesn't occur until September 23rd, when it comes to meteorological summer, it is now over. Meteorological summer consists of June, July, and August.

When we summarize all the highs and lows, summer 2015 had an average temperature of 84.0°. This only falls short of 2011, 2010, and 1998. So, some recent years have been quite toasty too!

Summer was also slightly drier than average with rain amounts totaling 19.21". That's 3.04" below normal. Parts of the area are still experiencing moderate drought conditions because of the deficit.
