TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A tropical wave in the Atlantic has a 50 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Sunday Evening Tropics Update 0809

The cluster of storms are located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands.

NHC says the tropical wave is currently moving at about 15 mph. Meteorologists say it is showing signs of organizing. However, conditions are less-favorable for development later in the week as the cluster moves east.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently updated it's 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook-- warning an "extremely active" hurricane season is possible. Meteorologists expect up to 11 hurricanes this season-- between three and six of those being major hurricanes.
