TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Tropical Storm Eta has formed in the Caribbean Sea-- becoming the 28th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season. According to the National Weather Service, this ties the record set in 2005 for most storms in an Atlantic Hurricane Season.
TD #29 has strengthened this evening and is now Tropical Storm Eta with max sustained winds of 40 mph. Eta is the 28th named storm of the 2020 season. Eta is forecasted to strengthen and become a hurricane on Monday. The storm is expected to make landfall around Honduras Tuesday morning as a category one hurricane.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say that this is the first time a storm has been named Eta in the Atlantic Ocean.
