MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Earl has recently made its second landfall southeast of Veracruz, Mexico. As of the latest advisory 11pm ET (10pm CT), winds were still sustained at 60 mph. Earl is expected to weaken quickly over Mexican highlands, but the heavy rain threat will persist. This will cause higher risks for landslides and flash flooding in the vicinity.
In addition, the lingering trough of low pressure over our local area has a 30% chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next five days.
