MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Ernesto transitioned to a tropical storm late Thursday night, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph. Still, the system is not expected to bring impacts to land as a tropical cyclone. After transitioning to a non-tropical system, the cyclone will approach the British Isles.
The tropical wave east of the Windward Islands has a low chance of developing for the next few days. Strong upper level winds will help to hinder the potential of this system organizing.
2-day development chances are at 20%.
5-day development chances are at 20%.
Either way, heavy rain is likely for the next few days for parts of the Lesser Antilles.
