MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The disturbance over the Caribbean (Invest 99L) has continued to push to the WNW and now is much weaker than it was just 24 hours ago. Wind shear is blowing thunderstorms away from its center, preventing the area from organizing. Because of this, the chance of development with this system has fallen to 60% in five days (30% in two days). Regardless, keep a close eye on this system as it still has the potential to develop and possibly bring heavy rain to our area.
Gaston is experiencing wind shear from a nearby disturbance and continues to weaken. The system is expected to re-strengthen into a hurricane by late this weekend.
