MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The Tropics continue to be active with Leslie and a disturbance in the Caribbean showing potential to develop.

Leslie is back to tropical storm status as maximum sustained winds have weakened to below 75 mph. As of the latest advisory, the storm has max. winds of 65 mph. Well east of the U.S., the storm is pushing north and is expected to turn back east to southeast, staying over water. The storm poses no direct threat to the U.S.

Another area of interest is a disturbance in the western Caribbean Sea that has a 60% chance of developing in the next five days. The system is forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico where potential strength and movement is still a bit uncertain. Still, interests along the Gulf coast should monitor the progress of the system through the next week.
