The tropics are relatively quiet in the Atlantic Ocean. However, a new tropical wave is pushing off the coast of Africa today and it looks to have the potential to become a tropical cyclone in the next few days. In fact, the National Hurricane Center has given it a 60% chance of developing in the next 5 days. I suspect it will develop sooner than 5 days as the Atlantic Ocean is pushing out the dry air and shear that would normally prevent such development. Anyway, the system could develop in the short term outlook, yet it is still thousands of miles away from the United States and does not pose any threat as of now. If anything does develop though we will bring you the latest updates here at the ABC Storm Team.
