MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- There are THREE areas that have the potential to develop into tropical depressions.
One is just near the straits south of Florida. Recently, a flare up of thunderstorm activity associated with weak low pressure has occurred. Upper level winds are likely going to hinder the system from developing much within the next five days, and because of this, it has only a 10% chance of organizing in that time frame.
Another area of disturbed weather is east of Puerto Rico. It has a 10% chance of developing within five days due to strong upper level winds, as well. It will continue to push toward the Bahamas, increasing cloudiness and rain there.
Beyond these two disturbances, over the open Atlantic, a strong disturbance is continuing to organize. This disturbance has a 30% chance to organize into a tropical depression in two days and a 70% chance to organize in five days. Forecast models indicate a turn to the north as it nears the Lesser Antilles. This would mean that this area is not a likely threat to the U.S.
